Death end re;Quest 2 is not lacking in interesting conundrums for the player to ponder over. If you have made it to Chapter Three’s burning building, then you’ve already encountered one such event. The burning building, however, takes the idea to the next level.

There are choices within choices when deciding what to do in Chapter Three, and the results of your actions won’t be revealed until the Chapters' conclusion. Make sure you save before you put your chips down, otherwise you could be trapped down a story path you didn’t mean to tread. Spoilers ahead!
Being the righteous saint you are, you opted to put the fire out to prevent it from spreading to other STONE buildings. This takes time, but the fire goes out and you can continue on your merry way - if a bit worn out.
If you choose this option, you will be given another multiple-choice dilemma just before the Chapter’s boss: to rest, or to keep going.
If you rest when given the option, you will quickly find yourself in a bit of a pickle before meeting a rather gruesome end. This leads to a ‘Game Over’, and is another one of Death end re;Quest 2’s secret ‘Bad’ endings. You will be allowed to return to the last decision you made to try again.
If you choose to keep going, then you will realize you were too late to save one of your schoolmates. This side character is permanently dead, and going down the route will naturally remove scenes and dialogue going forward.
Naturally, this is not the path to the ‘Good’ ending. The true answer to the dilemma is to ignore the fire.
