Ancient Wyvern is a boss in Dark Souls 3. This boss fight is optional and acts as a gimmick fight. You have to defeat the boss in order to fight Nameless King in Archdragon Peak. Ancient Wyvern is located in Archdragon Peak. The boss is optional, and you do not need to defeat it in order to complete the game.
To reach the boss, you will have to reach Archdragon Peak. First, you will need to defeat Oceiros, the Consumed King, and acquire the Path of the Dragon Gesture. After that, make your way to Irithyll Dungeon and head to the balcony where you saw the dragon statue. Use the gesture near it, and a cutscene will start, and you will reach Archdragon Peak. The boss is right after the first Bonfire.
Defeating the boss drops 70,000 Souls and Dragon Head Stone.
