CD Projekt Red is working on its planned expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, but it will take its time on it. Today, the company confirmed that the expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive in 2023.
As highlighted in today’s financial call, CD Projekt outlined its future plans for development. Work is continuing on the Cyberpunk expansion, while other teams work on other projects, including the new Witcher game built in Unreal Engine 5, the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and further support for Cyberpunk 2077.
The publisher also noted the upcoming Gwent spinoff that was recently announced. The company also confirms that The Molasses Flood is working on an unannounced project based in one of its franchises. CD Projekt acquired Molasses Flood, the studio behind The Flame in the Flood, last year.

It’s a lot of projects in development, and a lot of plates spinning for CD Projekt. The company also recently announced that its next-gen versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, are slipping out of Q2 and moving in-house.
Though recent comments have reaffirmed that development is still going strong and steady on the new Cyberpunk 2077 expansion and updates, it looks like development is also gradually shifting. A slide from CD Projekt’s financial presentation detailed how its dev teams are engaged in ongoing efforts. It looks like they’ve been moving from Cyberpunk 2077 onto other projects.
