This year's nominees for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards have been announced, with the list of potential winners featuring some of last year's biggest hits from across the animation industry. While the categories and nominations below were drafted by several judges, the actual winners will be decided by both the panel and fans from across the world.
The nominations include the usual suspects and several series which earned rave reviews last year, such as Tokyo Revengers, Oddtaxi, and Wonder Egg Priority. The Boruto anime series even has a spot in one of the categories this year, but for once it actually deserves it. Other heavyweight titles include Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and Attack on Titan across a wide number of categories, ranging from the prestigious Anime of the Year award to the visually-satisfying spectacle of Best Fight.
Anime has become more popular than ever in the last few years, and Crunchyroll has established itself as a giant in the streaming industry. The anime streaming giant is so valuable that Sony acquired it for a whopping $1.175 billion in 2020, a deal which was officially completed in August 2021 and saw Crunchyroll join fellow anime entertainment company Funimation as an official subsidiary of Sony.
