Core Cyberpunk 2077 team members ‘are moving to the US’ to lead sequel studio
Core team members behind Cyberpunk 2077 are reportedly planning to move to the USA to lead development on the next game in the series.
That’s according to the game’s quest director Paweł Sasko, who tweeted on Tuesday that he would soon be relocating from CD Projekt Red‘s Polish headquarters to help establish the new Boston-based team who will make the sequel.
According to the designer, “the core team” behind the first game will also move to North America to establish the new studio.
“I see you are asking, so I would like to clarify,” Sasko wrote. “After the release of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty I’m going to focus primarily on the new Cyberpunk 2077 project, code name Orion!
“I’m moving to Boston together with the core team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 to establish new studio and be the foundation for the North American team. Working together with the Vancouver crew and the devs from Warsaw we are going to deliver you a banging next game!”
CD Projekt Red confirmed on Tuesday that the next Cyberpunk game, Project Orion, would be handled by a new US-based studio called CD Projekt Red North America.
The company hadn’t previously been made clear, however, whether any of the Cyberpunk 2077 staff would be moving to this new studio, or how many.
VGC has asked CD Projekt for comment on this story.

Work on Orion will begin after the release of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty, next year, CD Projekt said in an investor call on Tuesday.
