Upcoming RTS game Company of Heroes 3 has revealed in a new trailer that the myriad of tanks that will be featured in the game will now get dirty in dynamic ways. Company of Heroes 3 was revealed last year and is set to feature the series’ biggest campaign yet.
The next installment in the World War 2 real-time strategy game series will be set in the war’s Mediterranean theater, which includes Italy and North Africa, and introduce new features such as the Dynamic Campaign Map and Full Tactical Pause. Developer Relic Entertainment is also improving the destruction system that was seen in previous Company of Heroes games, introducing more detailed and granular destruction. While developer Relic Entertainment has yet to reveal when Company of Heroes 3 will release, it’s supposedly scheduled to launch sometime later this year. However, last year’s NVIDIA GeForce’s game release date leak may give fans a clue as to when they can expect Company of Heroes 3 to become available.

In a new developer diary on the Company of Heroes YouTube Channel (via PCGamer), developer Relic Entertainment reveals that the game’s tanks and other vehicles will be more authentic and dynamic when it comes to damage as well as wear and tear. Using complex vehicle shaders, vehicles in Company of Heroes 3 will feature more dynamic weathering, charring, and damage. The type of dirt and grime that will appear and build up on vehicles will depend on the environment they are in. Vehicles will also have defined regions that will begin showing bullet and shell impact damage depending on where the vehicle is hit.
