Now that we have a timeline on when Nintendo plans to phase out the 3DS eShop, fans will want to keep tabs on any sales that pop up, especially for a publisher like Capcom.
As spotted and shared by the ever-vigilant @Wario64, a good chunk of Capcom 3DS games are on sale on the US eShop. Here’s a recap with eShop browser links:
I never thought I’d say this, but the standout on this list for me — and maybe Chris too — is Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Two bucks is impulse-buy territory. And what are the odds we’re ever going to see this game (or anything like it) on a modern platform? I liked Resident Evil Village‘s take on Mercenaries enough to get the high scores needed for the trophy, but it’s just not as enjoyable as the still-fun standard found in Resident Evil 4 and 5.
Naturally, some of you will be eying these Ace Attorney 3DS titles if you’ve got any gaps in the series, and even though it can be tough to go back to older Monster Hunter entries after Monster Hunter World and Rise, these deals are probably as good as we’ll get.
As a refresher, the 3DS eShop discontinuation is a multi-step process leading up to March 2023. Depending on your payment method, your willingness to shop via browser, and if you have your Nintendo Network ID linked up, there’s still time. One date to keep in mind is May 23 — that’s when “it will no longer be possible to use a credit card to add funds to an account in Nintendo eShop on Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.”
There are a few caveats/workarounds, but in general, our options for purchasing digital games on the 3DS eShop will start to diminish over the coming months.
