The Rebirth Island map of Call of Duty: Warzone will be introducing some changes soon, as confirmed in a developer update. The map was initially introduced near the end of 2020 during season one of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as a smaller alternative to Verdansk. Rebirth Island only supports up to 40 players, allowing for quicker matches. While Verdansk has since been replaced by Caldera, with the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, the Alcatraz-like map has mostly remained the same. Warzone fixed Rebirth Island’s lighting sometime last year, which improved its visibility.
Call of Duty: Warzone has been a massive success since it was released two years ago alongside CoD: Modern Warfare. However, things haven’t exactly gone smoothly for the game. Warzone’s community has grown increasingly disappointed with the battle royale as there seems to be no end to its technical and balance issues, with every update seemingly both fixing and breaking parts of the game simultaneously. The problem is further worsened as the game is continuously integrated with newer Call of Duty titles, with the most recent being last year’s Call of Duty: Vanguard, which not only bloats the game further but introduces even more potential issues. Even Warzone’s developers are unhappy with its current state.
