Call of Duty: Vanguard is the franchise's latest and arguably most ridiculous rendition of WW2 combat, not least due to the game's insistence on using Modern Warfare's meticulous Gunsmith weapon customization system. While the community has come to terms with being able to slap reflex sights and the like onto MP-40 SMGs, balancing remains a huge point of contention.
Specifically, the Call of Duty: Vanguard community is now unhappy with the newest addition to the game's arsenal: the Whitley LMG, which most players agree is completely overpowered. The issue isn't necessarily with the weapon's default configuration, but with some of its mods and customization options, to which there doesn't seem to be a real counter.

It's hardly a secret that the COD: Vanguard Whitley LMG is incredibly unbalanced at this point. As Reddit user Kingtinkerer102 puts it, the Whitley can be upgraded with .50 BMG ammunition that deals more damage with body shots than it does via headshots and bolstered even further with 150-round drum magazines that increase its damage by a further 70% at a minimal reduction of fire-rate. With just a few more modifications and some extra perks, the Whitley becomes a veritable monstrosity that cannot be outgunned.
As Call of Duty: Vanguard adds more weapons with each new update, the game's precarious balance keeps getting contested over and over again.
