There have been rumors that Nintendo is working on a successor to its highly successful Switch console over the past couple of years, one that could run games in 4K. Some gaming enthusiasts even think that this still-hypothetical Nintendo Switch Pro could be revealed as early as this year, though high-ranking Nintendo officials like Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser have repeatedly denied that there is any new Nintendo hardware of the caliber that fans are suggesting on the horizon.
Indeed, while Nintendo did release a new Switch model last year, it wasn’t the drastic re-invention that rumors were suggesting. The Nintendo Switch OLED featured a brighter touchscreen and several smaller quality-of-life improvements over the previous Switch models but lacked any 4K functionality despite shipping with a 4K-ready HDMI port.
