I always felt Bigby Wolf, the protagonist of The Wolf Among Us, could use some anger therapy. That’s pretty much where we see him today in the new trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2. He’s sitting in a circle of fold-out chairs, talking about the time he went toe to toe with characters from The Wizard of Oz. It didn’t go well, and he got a bit upset. His retelling of the events ends early, so we won’t know for sure what happened until the game launches in 2023.
We were, of course, promised a new trailer earlier this week. Today, Geoff Keighley joined developer Telltale Games in a live stream to show off the first trailer we’ve seen in a long time for The Wolf Among Us 2. The first we saw of the project was with a brief teaser shown at The Game Awards 2019. The shuttering of Telltale Games in 2018 was still fresh at the time. However, the studio was revived by AdHoc Studio in order to continue making new games and revive IPs once thought lost. Not everyone was pleased at the news, of course. Regardless, the new Telltale is trudging on just as before.
And just like before, the trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2 feels like a return to form. Granted, the game is certainly looking far more advanced than its 2013 predecessor. It’s using the Unreal Engine this time around, and it certainly shows. Wolf 2 is still maintaining its comic book-style presentation, but the lines are clean and colors pop. The world of Fables, the comic that inspired the series, has never looked better.
