A new Batman video compiles 12 Joker laughs, including those by Barry Keoghan and Mark Hamill. Joker became the arch-nemesis of Batman first in the pages of DC Comics and later on TV's 1960s Batman show with Cesar Romero as the Clown Prince of Crime. But the character didn’t become a true cultural phenomenon until Batman went to the movies in 1989.
Jack Nicholson of course took on the role of Joker in Tim Burton’s blockbuster 1989 Batman film. Later on, Heath Ledger and Jared Leto would tackle the role in Batman live-action movies, with Joaquin Phoenix taking over in the standalone solo film Joker. Most recently, the aforementioned Keoghan played Joker the Arkham Asylum inmate in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Of course there have also been many small-screen, animated and video game Jokers over the years. Most famously, the aforementioned Hamill played Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and several other animated shows taking place in the DC universe.

Of course whether the performance is given in live-action, animation or anywhere else, a key factor for any Joker actor is their Joker laugh. Given the array of different actors who’ve played Joker over the years, it’s no surprise that Joker laughs range all over the place too, going from the truly maniacal to the menacingly subdued.
