As with any great expedition, there must always be a home base for rest, recovery, and storing the goods found while traveling. And when players begin their journey across the galaxy in Astroneer, they'll find the need for quite a bit of power in order to literally fuel their space adventures to discover the secrets of the universe, though the amount of bytes a player starts off with won’t nearly be enough to see them through the entire game.
While late-game sees players setting up bases all across different types of planets that have varying levels of difficulty, the home planet of Sylva, depicted as earth-like since it’s easy to find the few resources seen across all planets, players will be able to utilize a wide variety of ways to harvest power. However, for the home base on Sylva there is plenty of daylight to power solar panels and occasional gusts of wind for turbines, so the only issue early on is finding them. Since Astroneer has such immersive crafting methods, this means that the more energy a piece of equipment produces, the more difficult it will be to build, such as taking up more bytes and materials. One of the best power-generating pieces of equipment in the game is the RTG, but it costs 12,500 bytes to build as well as some incredibly complicated components, so
