Ubisoft's recently announced Assassin's Creed Shadows will reportedly have "mini battle passes" called Projects, though they are primarily used to unlock cosmetics.
Assassin's Creed Shadows was officially revealed earlier today, and while it looks fairly promising and is finally delivering fans a long-requested setting in Feudal Japan, it's also managed to annoy just about everyone at the same time. You have the usual suspects upset about the game's inclusion of Yasuke, Japan's first black samurai, but Ubisoft's insistence for its games to require an internet connection to fully install them has also rankled a few people.
Unfortunately, some more potentially bad news is also making the rounds on social media, and it's all down to how much you can stomach battle passes in your single-player games. Yep, according to reputable Ubisoft insider Tom Henderson, Assassin's Creed Shadows will include "mini battle passes known as "Projects" that players will be able to buy, which will reward players with various cosmetics.
According to Henderson, each of these "Projects" will have twenty levels that players will have to work through, though what you'll need to actually do in the game and how much they'll cost is unclear. He also claims that these three passes already have titles, those being "The Last Ronin", "The Hidden Network", and "In the Shadows". We can likely assume these passes won't all drop at launch, as Ubisoft will likely want to keep supporting the title months after release.
It's also still unclear whether these passes are linked to Assassin's Creed Infinity, the supposed hub title that was described as a home for future Assassin's Creed titles, including Shadows. There's a lot we still don't know about Infinity, and how it will function in Assassin's Creed Shadows, though we'll likely get more information over the coming year. Until then, we'll have to just keep our fingers crossed these "Projects" aren't too invasive when playing the actual game.
