Ubisoft’s celebration livestream of the Assassin’s Creed franchise recently gave fans a small glimpse into the future. Namely, it confirmed a new roguelike game mode for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as well as confirmed a ‘final chapter’ (free update) for later this year. It also confirmed fans would get a deeper look at the future of the franchise, presumably as a whole, in September.
Many in the Assassin’s Creed community have obviously reacted to the recent stream, some better than others, as many were hoping this livestream would be as billed and give a look at the future. Many fans wanted to see an Assassin’s Creed Origins-Odyssey crossover with Kassandra or official looks at Assassin’s Creed Rift, Infinity, or Nexus. While none of those were there, some fans are convinced that Ubisoft did tease an AC1 Remake at the event.

The biggest reasons have been compiled into one place on Twitter, a post by theAssassin’s Creed community account AccesstheAnimus. First and foremost is how the definition and saturation of the Assassin’s Creed 1 trailer elements seen during the showcase had been updated. This could have been simple video editing, but it would be strange to pay attention to AC1 this way and not other games.
This is especially true when paired with a brand new logo for the first Assassin’s Creed. It’s the only one to get an updated logo, complete with the “Ubisoft Original” marketing tactic recently employed by the company. And wrapping up this theory with a nice little bow is the fact that AC1 is listed last for the community celebration roadmap, which ends in September.
