Controllers are a key ingredient in the overall success of a console. There's a reason PlayStation's controllers have remained more or less the same since its first console. It's also worth noting when it did make some big differences by introducing the DualSense, it was one of the most celebrated elements of the PS5 at launch. Nintendo has also been at the forefront of controller innovation, and now you can pair and use its latest offerings with your Apple devices.
As reported by The Verge, Joy-Con and Switch Pro controllers are now compatible with iOS. “iOS 16 natively supports Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers,” Riley Tetsut tweeted. Tetsut has included evidence showing that the Pro Controller is connected to their iPhone or iPad, as well as a shot of them using it to play the original Smash Bros. on the device.

Apple's Nat Brown has also taken to Twitter to confirm the news, asking people to test the update and report back with any issues they might come across. While Pro controllers appear to be working without issue, there seem to be some slight problems when it comes to pairing Joy-Con. Understandable as the two controllers can become one, something the Switch might be used to, but your iPhone most certainly is not.
Even if it isn't working perfectly for everyone right now, Brown explains how you can easily alternate between using one Joy-Con at a time with your iOS device, or pairing them up so they become one. You can pair two Joy-Con into one controller by holding the capture and home buttons for a few seconds. To unpair them again and use just the one Joy-Con, all you need to do is repeat that process.
