Electronic Arts has confirmed plans to release Apex Legends Mobile Season 2, which is titled Distortion, on July 12.
Headlining the update is new mobile-first Legend Rhapsody, a DJ with rhythm-themed special abilities and an AI-controlled helper bot called Rowdy.
You can see them in action in the Apex Legends Mobile Season 2 launch trailer below.
Distortion will also include a new map called Pythas Block 0.
“Originally from Kómma, where the tech giant Pythas Inc. controls all, Rhapsody has used her love of music to rise out of poverty in the dangerous nightlife district of Neon Dunes and become one of the hottest Legends on the Apex scene,” reads a character introduction from EA.
“Her mother, a brilliant AI engineer who created Rhapsody’s companion bot Rowdy, was fired from Pythas Inc. for discovering company secrets and now Rhapsody must compete in the Apex Games under their banner to help free her family from debt.”
Developed by a dedicated team at Respawn in conjunction with Tencent’s Lightspeed & Quantum Studios, which is the team behind PUBG Mobile, Apex Legends Mobile was released for iOS and Android devices on May 17.
Like Apex Legends for console and PC, it’s free-to-play and doesn’t include paid items that offer a gameplay advantage, but it’s supported by a premium battle pass and an in-game store selling cosmetics.
Apex Legends Mobile is estimated to have generated almost $5 million through player spending during its first week of availability.
