Xbox recently unveiled a suite of horror games set to debut on Xbox Game Pass in the lead-up to Halloween, and chief amongst them is 2020’s Amnesia: Rebirth. A psychological horror adventure dripping with atmosphere and tension, the title was originally released as a PS4 console exclusive, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S owners, along with Xbox Game Pass subscribers, will finally have a chance to play it before the horror genre once again falls out of favor following the holiday.
Developed by Frictional Games, the team responsible for 2010s genre-definingAmnesia: The Dark Descent and the proceeding Penumbra series, Amnesia: Rebirth was regarded as something of a mixed bag by fans when it first released. Focusing more on a bleak story that centers on trauma and hardship, many found it to be a step in the wrong direction compared to the unforgettably eerie quest to stave off darkness and those that lurk in it that was the original game. That said, the game eventually found its audience, and the general audience consensus grew to be more favorable.

Were it not for Amnesia: The Dark Descent, landmark horror hits like Outlast, Visage, and even Resident Evil 7 may not have come to fruition.
Terrifying as they are, the Amnesia games aren’t the only horror titles primed to appear on Xbox Game Pass ahead of the Halloween
