Amazon has released a collection of intriguing stats about its multiplayer RPG New World to celebrate the game's first anniversary. The infographic produced by Amazon reveals the massive amounts of collective play hours, most contested settlements, the total number of PvE enemies killed, and much more. To put a bow on the first year in New World, the team also recognized some of the more important updates during the year in a collage of videos that are available on the Play New World YouTube channel.
New World was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated MMORPGs, if not games, in 2021. While New World's initial reviews were mixed, the game has evolved a lot in the first year. It still easily cracks the top 20 on Steam charts, topping games like ARK: Survival Evolved. New World was initially intended at first to be a free-to-play game, but Amazon instead released it as a regular, paid title, which seemed to have served them well.

The graphic shared by Amazon Games reveals that New World amassed 569 million hours played, which translates to around 65,000 average players online each hour of the year. That would currently secure it a top 10 spot on the Steam rankings, placing it just above Grand Theft Auto 5. The game was also popular among streamers, according to a total of 12.4 billion minutes of Twitch streams. While PvP was expanded within New World with new features earlier this year, most of the kills were scored on non-player enemies. A total of 17.8 billion PvE kills were recorded — or over 33,000 every minute.
