Prime Day each year is always a good time to consider picking up new Amazon hardware and especially when it comes to the company’s Echo series of speakers. Even though these are not the most expensive smart speakers to begin with, it is always handy when a deal or promotion comes around and reduces the price further. Right now, a new Amazon Echo speaker can be picked up for as little as $17.99.
A smart speaker might not replace someone’s home audio entertainment system, but it still can be a highly useful addition to the home. As more households now come equipped with a greater variety of smart devices, smart speakers like the Echo line have the ability to communicate and even control many of them. If nothing else, these small speakers make it possible to add Alexa to any room and without having to buy a more expensive Alexa-enabled device.

The Echo Dot has always been a great way to get involved with Amazon’s smart ecosystem considering it is currently the cheapest Echo speaker available. Right now, it's is even cheaper than usual with Amazon currently selling the Echo Dot (3rd Gen) for only $17.99. To put this price into perspective, the standard Echo Dot retails for $39.99. However, the 3rd Gen is an older model that dates back to 2018. The newest version is currently the fourth-generation which arrived in late 2021 with a new design. This newer version also happens to be discounted right now, with the price of the Echo Dot (4th Gen) having dropped down to $19.99 for Prime Day.
If neither the third or fourth-general Echo Dot is right, then one of the variants might be more suitable. For example, Amazon also sells an Echo Dot (4th Gen) smart speaker clock as well.
