A recent social media post from the motion-capture performer behind Horizon Forbidden West’s Aloy has renewed fans’ hopes for a new DLC expansion. Earlier this year, Guerilla Games continued the epic post-apocalyptic Horizon saga with Horizon Forbidden West — which followed Nora Tribe outcast-turned-unlikely savior Aloy as she journeys into the Forbidden West to uncover the lost fragments of a terraforming AI program and learn more hidden secrets of the world that came before. Horizon Forbidden West improved and built on several key aspects from 2017’s Horizon: Zero Dawn, adding stunning new Machines for players to battle and tame and a fun sidequest that many have humorously compared to Mario Kart.
While voice actress Ashley Burch provides Aloy’s soft-yet-authoritative voice and lip-sync animation during cutscenes, it is Dutch motion-capture artist Peggy Vrijens that recorded the many transversal and attack animations players see Aloy perform during Horizon Forbidden West. Whenever Aloy rides a tamed Machine into battle, performs her signature rappel down a cliff, or even risks life and limb to scale the top of a towering Tallneck in Horizon Forbidden West, she is performing motions that Vrijens provided in a studio. In fact, Horizon Forbidden West is Peggy Vrijens’ sole video game performance to date — which makes a recent social media post all the more interesting to Horizon fans.
