Activision Blizzard has released its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2021, announcing record performance by King (Candy Crush), offset by lower than expected performance in the Activision segment (Call of Duty). Exhibiting the financial success of mobile gaming, Activision Blizzard’s mobile net bookings grew 18% year-over-year and represented 33% of the company's total net bookings in the fourth quarter. Bolstered by Classic Season of Mastery and The Burning Crusade Classic, World of Warcraft delivered its strongest engagement and net bookings outside of an expansion year in a decade. Likewise, Hearthstone earnings continue to grow year over year, while Diablo II: Resurrected sold more units between its September release and the end of the year than any other Activision Blizzard remaster. The announcement also reiterated that Blizzard is planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including all-new mobile Warcraft content.
