A Plague Tale Devs Currently Have No Plans For A Third Game

A Plague Tale: Requiem might not even be on store shelves yet, but that hasn't stopped some of us from wondering what's next for the game's main characters Hugo and Amicia. Turns out, we may need to savor this latest rat-infested adventure as it could be the last in the series, as developer Asobo Studio currently has no plans for a third game in the series.

In an interview posted on the PlayStation Blog with A Plague Tale: Requiem director Kevin Choteau (thanks GamesRadar), it's revealed that Asobo is waiting for "player reception" before deciding whether to go head with a sequel or not. Choteau also explains that if players aren't too keen on A Plague Tale: Requiem, the team will move onto a different project which would likely be a new IP.

"I think, for now, it’s the end," says Choteau. "But the door is never closed, and we’ll see the player reception. We want to see their reaction before deciding anything. They are driving our production, and if they don’t like what we’ve done, we need to do something else."

Well, if reviews of the title are anything to go by then it seems like we may get another game in the future. A Plague Tale: Requiem is currently sat at a pretty impressive critic rating of 84 on Metacritic, so if that translates over to user ratings then it looks like Asobo won't have too tough of a time replicating the success of the first game. If anything, the game's inclusion on Xbox Game Pass will probably mean that A Plague Tale: Requiem's player numbers will likely dwarf A Plague Tale: Innocence's numbers.

Personally, it's hard to imagine that Focus Entertainment would let a gem of a series like A Plague Tale go completely,
