Infinity Ward has released a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 update.
While it didn’t release official patch notes for the update, the studio said it “fixed various map exploits and bugs across the game” and “fixed an issue that prevented players from editing their Profile Showcase”.
Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 Trello board, where players can track known issues that are being worked on, will also be used to post patch notes “soon”.
The game’s new weapon attachment tuning feature has temporarily been turned off due to reports that it’s causing crashes, and its ping system has also been disabled after players discovered it could be used to track enemies through walls for entire matches.
Modern Warfare 2 support studio Treyarch said on Wednesday that Ranked Play will launch for the game in 2023.
It will feature competitive modes, ranked skill divisions, visible skill ratings, a top 250 leaderboard, and competitive rewards.
Treyarch also confirmed plans to retire Black Ops Cold War League Play and Vanguard Ranked Play this month. It said players have until November 22 to collect any remaining rewards.
Activision claimed on Monday that Modern Warfare 2 had recorded the biggest launch in the history of the long-running series. It said the game topped $800 million in sales in its first three days, surpassing the previous five-day franchise sales record, set in 2011 by Modern Warfare 3.
