Sam Raimi recalls filming the original Evil Dead movie, citing its incredibly low budget as brutal and extremely difficult to work with. Written and directed by Raimi, the 1981 horror film served as an expansion of his, producing partner Robert Tapert and star Bruce Campbell's proof of concept short film Within the Woods. The Evil Dead centers on Ash Williams and his college friends, sister and girlfriend heading up to a cabin in the woods for a remote vacation, only to accidentally unleash a demonic force possessing and killing them off.
