The Fantastic Four are beloved in Marvel Comics, but the many cinematic adventures of the team never quite measured up to the source material — and Marvel recently revealed exactly why. The four Fantastic Four films released between 1994 and 2015 (not counting the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four adaptation) failed at the box office for various reasons, from an exceedingly-low budget to massive liberties taken from the source material to overly comedic and/or dramatic tones. But writer Dan Slott, in an interview chronicling the upcoming Fantastic Four #46, reveals one of the reasons why the films continue to fail.
