The ABC sitcom was based on Eddie Huang's autobiography and centers on the Huangs, a Taiwanese-American family who have moved from Chinatown to Washington, DC to Orlando, Florida to open a cowboy-themed steakhouse and struggle to adjust to their new home. Fresh Off the Boat hailed from creator Nahnatchka Khan, who had previously teamed with ABC for the short-lived sitcom Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and has since become known for her work with NBC's Young Rock and Netflix's Always Be My Maybe.
