Blade Runner Prequel Is Changing Movie Canon in Massive Ways
Comic prequel Blade Runner Origins is preparing to redefine the entire franchise, with huge implications for what fans think they know from the movies. In 1982, director Ridley Scott released Blade Runner, a sci-fi noir yarn starring Harrison Ford that became a visually stunning and philosophically compelling watermark for science fiction cinema. While based in Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the film diverged significantly from the source material and became a different machine altogether. Though not successful initially at the box office, the film eventually became a cult classic that has since spawned a franchise across books, video games, TV series, and comics.
