The Sandman season 1 star Vivienne Acheampong teases the conflict between Dream and Lucienne. The upcoming TV show is based on Neil Gaiman's comic book series of the same name, which he wrote for DC and its Vertigo imprint. The Sandman comics were published between 1989 and 1996, and spanned 75 issues, proving to be an outstanding cult success. Plans to adapt Gaiman's work into live-action began in 1991, although initially, a feature film was being developed. The project languished in development hell for several years, iterating through different ideas. But ultimately, Netflix signed off on The Sadman TV series, with Gaiman, The Dark Knight's David S. Goyer, and Wonder Woman's Allen Heinberg attached as the executive producers.
