These cogwheel slots are highly customizable and can give bonuses like Fractured Cogwheel and Quick Cogwheel. Alchemy Alchemy becomes a stronger profession in Cataclysm due to the introduction of new profession specific craftable trinkets.
The choice for Blood Death Knight is Lifebound Alchemist Stone due to Stamina and Mastery stat bonuses. This trinket is a strong starting trinket that can be used before you even hit level 85 and won't be replaced until you see Symbiotic Worm drop and have acquired Mirror of Broken Images / Mirror of Broken Images from their respective Reputations.
