Rumors of a have turned out to be true, as director Doug Liman recently confirmed that he and Cruise are working on a horror project, the first in the genre for either.
During a screening of the documentary Gaucho Gaucho last week, Liman spoke to Showbiz 411, where he confirmed that he and Cruise are planning to make a “scary” movie together.
He didn’t expand much upon the project, but noted that it would be both he and Cruise’s first time tackling this kind of movie. “I have never done one,” said Liman. “And neither has Tom Cruise.” Rumors of a Tom Cruise-led scary movie have been floating around for nearly the entire year.
In August, movie insider Daniel Richtman mentioned that the pair were in talks to make the film, with Warner Bros. Discovery producing the project.
At the time of the report, the project was known as Deeper, although it’s unknown if the name will stick. Deeper has been around for nearly a full decade, and was initially a script written by Max Landis.
