Per Variety, Swait Shetty and Grant Kessman’s newly formed production banner Bridge7 has secured the rights to make a sequel to Slumdog Millionaire.
Bridge7 struck the deal with Celador, also known as CPL Productions, the company that produced the original movie with Film4.
Bridge7 has also acquired the Slumdog Millionaire television rights. “Some stories stay with us long after the credits roll and Slumdog Millionaire is undoubtedly one of them,” Shetty and Kessman said in a statement. “Its narrative is universal, cutting across cultural and geographical lines and it embodies the kind of stories we love — ones that bridge entertainment with profound human experiences.
