Lanterns Cast Adds DCU’s Live-Action Sinestro

HBO’s upcoming series has officially found its Sinestro, with Deadline reporting that Ulrich Thomsen has been tapped to play the villainous character.

It’s unknown exactly what role Sinestro will have in the upcoming series, but in the world of DC Comics, he is one of the main villains in Green Lantern’s history.

Originally introduced in 1961, Sinestro is a former Green Lantern who was dishonorably discharged after abusing his power and ends up founding his own villainous group known as the Sinestro Corps.

Unlike the Green Lantern Corps., which derive their abilities from their own willpower, Sinestro and his Corps’ yellow rings derive power from fear, leading him to be one of the most ruthless villains in Green Lantern’s history.

This is in spite of his charming nature in general. Thomsen is best known for his role as Kai Proctor in the Cinemax original series Banshee, as well as the 1998 film The Celebration.
