Villagers in can become like close friends as players interact with these NPC neighbors regularly and give them gifts. For the most part, these animal villagers interact with things in their environment pretty well, and can dress in the large variety of outfits and accessories that the game offers with no problem.
Unfortunately, some of the cosmetic items don't work quite as well for every villager's character model. Reddit user Jeter_3000 shared a screenshot of his character sitting next to the hippo villager, Rocco, who was happily reading a book. Rocco appears to have put on some reading glasses for the activity, but these tiny glasses don't exactly fit Rocco's large head, providing a pretty humorous situation.
As Jeter_3000 points out, the glasses are not exactly helping much in the position they are in, as Rocco's eyes are nowhere near lined up with the lenses.
To be fair, Rocco's large nose and mouth would also prevent him from being able to even see the book in his hand, but that is another issue entirely.
The universal cosmetic items, such as the glasses that Rocco is wearing so uniquely, don't always work quite right. As is pointed out further in the comments, the octopus villagers also do not use glasses correctly, and it gives them a silly sense of style that can be fun to see. Gifting villagers glasses is a great way of encouraging them to wear these items, although it can be more difficult to get them to remove them once the joke starts to get a little old.
