EA Sports WRC gets VR beta support on PC today

The start of Season 4 in EA Sports WRC brings with it beta support for VR headsets on PC, a free update available across Steam, Epic and EA App versions of the game.

The VR Beta and update 1.8.0 are available from 11AM BST today.Sadly there are no plans to add VR support for the game on consoles – this specifically excludes PSVR 2.The VR beta is being baked into the game with EA Sports WRC update 1.8.0 – read the full patch notes here.

While Codemasters has pretty extensive history of supporting VR in their games on PC – including with Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2 – this will be the first time that they’re developing it in-house and without the help of external partners.

WRC is also their first game using Unreal Engine, as opposed to the in-house Ego engine.If you have a supported OpenXR headset plugged into the PC, VR play will be made available to you as a boot options.

Codemasters has confirmed that the following headsets are compatible:They also note that PSVR, PSVR 2 and Apple Vision Pro are specifically not supported.The minimum requirements need to pair an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel i5 10600K with an AMD Radeon RC 5700XR or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070.
