February 13th's Wordle gives us something to sing about as players continue to play and post their Wordle journey on social media. Wordle is a once-a-day word-guessing game that has blown up through its simple gameplay and social media presence. Each day players are tasked with solving a five-letter word using informational clues provided by the game.
Wordle is played on a 5x6 grid, players start with a random starting word and the game provides hints based on each letter. Wordle highlights certain letters green if they are correct, yellow if they are correct but in the wrong spot, or grey if they are not in the word at all. With these tips, players move to the next row and attempt to guess the correct word. This form of gameplay was made popular by the old board game Mastermind, where players would guess colored patterns based on the same information-type gameplay that Wordle provides. Wordle also has a 'Hard Mode' that can be activated through the options menu, which will lock letters based on the clues given. If certain letters are proven correct they must be used in the same spot for future guesses, the same goes with letters proven incorrect, they may not be used again.

The use of social media sharing is arguably what contributed to Wordle's massive success. When a player wins, or loses, a game of Wordle they are offered a 'Share' button which copies the attempt to the clipboard, this can easily be pasted into any social media.
