Supergiant Games was founded in 2009, making indie games such asBastion, Pyre, Transistor, and perhaps its most famous, Hades. Their games have ranged from RPGs to dungeon crawlers and get into genres of sci-fi and fantasy. When Hades was first released in 2020, it was a game changer for not only the studio but for the expectations of indie games in general. It won Golden Joystick Awards, British Academy Game Awards, a Hugo Award, a Nebula award, 21st Game Developers Choice Awards, and more.
With such a critical hit in the gaming industry, many are wondering what is next for Supergiant Games. So far, there are no plans for a Hades sequel. The question is if there is any possibility of a sequel, and if not, then fans would like to know what kind of game will Supergiant Games work on next.
Comparing Hades to the Tale of Hades and Persephone
Supergiant Games' website has a blog to keep fans updated about their games. The latest blog post has been a job opportunity for a Map Artist. In July, developers reported that their store came out with new Hades merchandise from plushies, to pins, and clothes. Most of the blog and Twitter posts for the past two years have been about Hades merchandise, job opportunities, and game anniversaries, with no word of future projects yet.
In a 2021 interview with NME, Supergiant Games writer and designer Greg Kasavin made it clear that Supergiant Games is undecided about a Hades sequel. He said that in the past, Supergiant Games did not know what comes next. They tend not to plan their next games until they are fully done with what they currently work on.
