Following up on the question of monetization in Arclight Rumble, Towelliee has released a new video confirming that Blizzard's upcoming Warcraft mobile game will not feature any loot boxes. The five minute video briefly reviews the game's mini shop and offers clarifications based on his discussion with the developers. The video is very short and to the point, so it's really worth watching in full, but highlights include:
No loot boxes, as confirmed by developers — Toweliee speculates that this may have been an error on the game's Google store page or referring to something else. The mini shop has weekly caps — you can only buy one Coin Pouch per week, or two Coin Chests per week, and so on. Players may only purchase 2,100 gold per week — along with other weekly caps, this restricts whales from buying a ton of gold and immediately clearing out the shop. No duplicates. The selection of minis (leader characters) offered for sale are based on your collection, you will not be offered or able to purchase duplicates — this may be where the «random purchases» listing came from on the Google Store Page, since that means each player will be offered a different selection based on what they are missing from their collection. Purchasing a new leader «cycles» the track, resulting in new choices. If you aren't interested in any of the offers, it appears that the track can also be advanced for a small fee.As seen in Towelliee's video, the shop appears to have weekly caps restricting players from how much they can spend in a given week, resetting on Sunday.
