Unity setting up Chinese joint venture
pcgamesinsider.bizEngine giant Unity is setting up a new joint venture in China.
As reported by Reuters, the tech giant has signed an agreement to establish this company – unsurprisingly named Unity China – which is said to be valued at $1 billion. According to a statement from the company's WeChat account, Unity has partnered with Alibaba, China Mobile, Oppo, the Chinese version of TikTok – Douyin – PCI Technology Group and G-Bits Network Technology Xiamen.
Unity is going to remain in charge of this venture. The Chinese joint venture is going to be building a local version of its products and will distribute its products and services in the region. Unity China CEO Zhang Junbo says the firm is looking to hire 1,000 engineers in the near future as well as expand its offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.
This comes in the wake of recent rumours that Unity was looking to set up a separate business in China.
