The Mad Android known as Ultron lives for two goals — to destroy the Avengers, and to supplant organic life as Earth's dominant species — and yet his forgotten Hulk form couldn't have betrayed either of these ideals more. This form — known as Assemble — was functionally an Avengers tribute band, combining the powers of Captain America, Thor and Giant-Man in a mechanical Hulk body, all for the purpose of slavishly protecting mutants.
Assemble is a villain in the Ultimate Universe, an alternate reality created to tell modern, boundary-pushing stories free of Marvel's decades of continuity. Today, one of the things the Ultimate imprint is best known for is its disastrous Ultimatum event, in which the murder of the Scarlet Witch by Ultron pushed Magneto to cause a huge disaster that killed off iconic heroes in truly brutal ways. Ultron's plans actually unfolded in Jeph Loeb and Joe Madureira's Ultimates 3, in which Ultron attacked this universe's equivalent of the Avengers with robotic duplicates that possessed their powers. Ultron was destroyed during an attempt to further stir up conflict with Magneto, but the Master of Magnetism found an ingenious use for the advanced tech the Mad Android left behind.
