Cyberpunk 2077 has been lambasted for a number of reasons since the game launched almost two years ago. The latest spotlight being shone on one of the game's oversights might well be the strangest to date, though. The game uses German manhole covers. A little odd by itself, but the issue players have is that CDPR has used them incorrectly.
A screenshot of a tweet highlighting the issue was shared on Reddit this week. LolitaWhitenack's post points to the DIN B125 marking on a Cyberpunk manhole cover, proving the ones in Night City are based on German designs. However, the manhole in the screenshot is clearly in the middle of a road, and that's where the problem lies. Apparently, that manhole cover should only be used on pedestrian walkways, and is potentially not capable of bearing the weight of heavy vehicles.

Shockingly, there's more than one Cyberpunk player educated in the intricacies of German manhole covers. A reply to the post claims the manhole cover pictured can be used for roads, but that they are still sort of right as it wouldn't be appropriate for the sort of traffic Night City boasts. The conversation then descends into a click-if-you-dare game featuring links to various subreddits about manholes.
Right up until the reveal that this isn't something that has only just been noticed. The tweet in the Reddit post above was originally published ten days after Cyberpunk launched. What's more, one of the OG Cyberpunk players worried about the manhole covers not being up to code started a petition on Change.org to get them altered. That peition is still live almost two years later and has been signed by more than 1600 people.
