Horizon Forbidden West is arriving on the PlayStation in just a few weeks and there will technically be two versions of the game. For those who want to get the PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West but don't want to pay the extra $10, there is a bit of a workaround available.
As has been the case with several games since the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S released, Horizon Forbidden West is $10 cheaper for the PS4 version compared to the PS5 edition. However, this isn't always consistent as some games offer a free upgrade from the PS4 and Xbox One to the newest generation of console without having to pay anything extra. In what is a weird little feature, when Horizon Forbidden West launches later this month, it will actually allow users to choose whether they want to pay extra, or just go with the free upgrade.

Because Sony is offering users to basically choose whether they want to play the PS4 or PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West, assuming they have the new console, there is also a simple way to save a few bucks. Push Square pointed out that while the PS4 version of the game carries a $59.99 MSRP and the PS5 edition costs $69.99, Sony has also said that anyone who purchases the PlayStation 4 version on their PlayStation 5 will get the upgraded version for free.
This apparently works whether people are buying the digital or physical version of the game. The price difference in the game that will allow users to continue the story of Aloy with new activities, challenges, and settlements is the same no matter whether people buy the game at a local retailer or through the PlayStation store (not withstanding any sales the retailers might run).
