Danielle Olivera explained the offense she took by Ciara Miller referring to herself as «the first person of color» on Summer House. Season 6 saw the cast have one of the first deep discussions of racism and discrimination on display in The Hamptons. While Ciara and their new housemate Mya Allen might be the only Black woman on the show, Danielle is also a minority in the cast. As the only Latina on the Bravo series, Danielle is speaking up about how Ciara unconsciously snubbed her when defending the people of color in the house.
Mya was among the newbies who joined the cast of Summer House season 6. As just one of two Black housemates in the predominantly white Hamptons community, Mya struggled with the adjustment. During a vulnerable moment, Ciara consoled Mya and understood her sentiments of feeling left out. Ciara supported Mya when she shared her concerns during a house meeting and shared her experience as the first person of color to join the house last summer.

However, Danielle is Puerto Rican and joined the cast at the start of Summer House season 2. After Danielle, Jules Daoud, who grew up speaking Arabic, appeared in season 4. Speaking on the race discussion, Danielle explained why she stayed silent and allowed Ciara and Mya to share that moment. "I stayed quiet for a lot of reasons, because it wasn't my moment to have," Danielle revealed to ET. Nonetheless, the former tech project manager admitted that Ciara's comment did "hurt" because it highlighted how Ciara doesn't see Danielle as "a person of color," she explained before recalling a special moment she shared with Ciara prior to the summer.
