Kicking off on the 4th August, Evo 2023 has confirmed which fighting games will be taking to the main stage. This year, eight titles have been chosen, with Street Fighter 6 leading the charge.
With Capcom's anticipated brawler set to release on the 2nd June, players will have roughly two months to get clued up on the competitive scene. The timing should make for an especially intense tournament.
Anyway, the full roster is as follows:
It's a fairly predictable lineup — even with the celebrated return of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 — but it's hard to argue with the selection as a whole. It's also worth noting that Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, the enhanced and expanded version of Granblue Fantasy Versus that's set to launch later this year, will have a special pre-release tournament at Evo 2023. More details on that will be shared soon, says Cygames.
But wait, there's more! Evo is actually undergoing some changes this year, as it's been confirmed that all of the main tournaments will adopt a new Top 6 bracket format for their finals — instead of a more traditional Top 8. This will apparently benefit the efficiency of the event.
And last but not least, all of the main game tournaments will offer a minimum $25,000 prize pool. That's a huge increase on previous years, and it's great to see that players will be better rewarded for their efforts.
