A new 1.6 update is coming to Stardew Valley,but fans shouldn’t expect it to be anything like the previous 1.5 update. Stardew Valley's massive 1.5 update came with an entirely new area for players to explore, plus a long list of new characters and features. These included but were not limited to weapon enchanting, new animals, new crops, the ability for the player to change their character’s name and appearance, updated dialogue, and much more.
Last year Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, announced that he is currently developing a new game called The Haunted Chocolatier. He also has a third unnamed game project in the works. Barone was famously the sole developer of Stardew Valley, but in 2019 he hired a few other developers who have been working with him since, as they did with updates 1.4 and 1.5. As of now, he is also the only person working on the potentially Christmas-themed Haunted Chocolatier, but he is reportedly working with a group of developers for the unnamed third project.

With Stardew Valley's 1.6 update on its way, Eric Barone has managed expectations by explaining that it won’t be anything near the massive size that 1.5 was. This update intends to focus on making the lives of players that use and make mods easier. How exactly the update will “make modder’s life easier” is unknown for now. However, as reported by PC Gamer, there will also be a small amount of new content. Barone was also asked if a 1.7 update could happen in the future for Stardew Valley, to which he answered “Who knows?”
Although not as content-filled as the previous update, Stardew Valley's 1.6 update should be welcome to players who are keen on customizing
