Netflix'sextremely popular series Squid Game is returning for a second season, and the streaming giant has just confirmed it with an ominous teaser trailer. Talks about season 2 have been ongoing for a while, and the Netflix CEO had unofficially confirmed that the series would return, but this is the first official green light that the project has received, and fans are thrilled.
Sharing the news on social media, Netflix posted a short video clip of the giant animatronic doll from Squid Game episode 1. The video focuses on the doll’s eye as it sings the Korean phrase from the popular children's game “Red Light, Green Light.” As she completes her song, instead of shooting lasers, the number ‘2’ appears on the eye, and the iconic Squid Game logo in the form of a circle, triangle, and square appears at the bottom of the screen. The caption confirms that “Squid Game is officially coming back for Season 2.”

Along with the new Squid Game teaser, Netflix also released an official statement from the show’s creator Hwang Dong-hyuk. He refers to the upcoming season as “a whole new round” and confirms the return of Lee Jung-jae's Seong Gi-hun and Lee Byung-hun's Hwang In-ho, a.k.a. The Front Man. Fans last saw Gi-hun skip his flight and vow to return to the secret island to end the games once and for all. It is expected that the next season will once again follow his journey, perhaps as a contestant once again, or even as the person in charge.
