Spotify is reportedly testing TikTok-style vertical scrolling for its podcast feed. Other social media platforms have often copied TikTok over the years, and two of the most notable examples of that are Snapchat Spotlight and Instagram Reels. TikTok itself has also copied features from other social media apps and is currently testing its ephemeral video feature 'Stories' with select users.
Podcasts are big on Spotify, and the company has been spending the big bucks on acquiring some of the most valuable podcast properties in the world. However, some of those podcasts have been highly controversial, such as Joe Rogan Experience, inviting criticism from activists that Spotify knowingly allows misinformation to thrive on its platform for financial gains.

News about Spotify testing the vertically-scrolling podcast feed was initially revealed by Twitter user Sleepwell before being shared by product designer and social media influencer Chris Messina. According to their tweets, Spotify is adding a new tab on the bottom bar for podcast discovery, which users can tap to access the new vertical feed. Each podcast card in that feed comes with short audio clips that highlight some of the important parts of particular episodes. The feed also includes the show's cover art and live transcripts as the audio snippet play in the background. There's also a 'Play' button at the bottom-right corner of each card, allowing users to listen to that particular show in its entirety. In addition, there's a '+' button at the bottom-left corner to add the episode to the 'Your Episodes' list to access later.
