Just as Apple released its iOS 16.1 update for the iPhones, Samsung releases its One UI 5 update for its Galaxy smartphones. The One UI 5 update is a big one for Samsung phones, since it brings the Android 13 update and all related benefits to users. The update will rollout to flagship Samsung devices at first, followed by more affordable devices across the entire Samsung range.
The One UI 5 update is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S22 series devices at the moment. Both Exynos and Snapdragon powered variants of the S22 family are getting the update across the world. Hence, if you have a Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, you should keep an eye for the update notification, or head over to the Software Update section in the Settings app.
With this release, Samsung is one of the early manufacturers to release the Android 13 update for a mass market device. Prior to this, it has been Google who released the Android 13 update for its Pixel devices, and launched the Pixel 7 series with Android 13 pre-installed.
Samsung's roadmap also aims to upgrade the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy S21 series and a few Galaxy A series devices to the Android 13 based One UI 5 before the end of 2022. Rest of the devices are expected to be updated by early next year.
Samsung is also committed to release the 5G software update on its last year's Galaxy S21 series and all of its 5G devices launched previously in India. However, the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Fold 4 already support Airtel's NSA 5G in India.
Other than Samsung, the Android 13 update is expected to reach other phone manufacturers soon. Oppo and Realme have plans to update their flagships before the end
