Open-world exploration space-SIM Elite Dangerous from Frontier Developments is a game which we have been playing in single-player for some time now. There is an online version, but with numbers at less than 7,000, single-player appeals more to us. We just love getting lost in distant galaxies alone, shooting shit up and returning home for a nice space latte in the evening.
The previous stories were great, but the Azimuth Saga plot really got us hot under our space suit. So it’s exciting to hear that the story is soon to reach its climax. But whether the ending to this story will be a black hole in our memories or a glorious supernova remains to be seen. What we do know is what came before.
The Azimuth Saga kicked off in October 2020 with the eerie discovery of an abandoned 200-year-old behemoth of a ship- The Adamastor. Simultaneously, a mysterious figure named Salvation, came into possession of a powerful new anti-Xeno weapon, using it to wipe out many Thargoid forces over the following 18 months.
Following these victories, Salvation attracted alignments from three large superpowers; The Alliance, Empire and Federation. Lately, Commanders (players) discovered awful revelations about the true identity of Salvation, in their personal history and questionable research methods. But trust in Salvation has not diminished. Not yet, at least.
It is impossible to know the direction will take next. Will the allies turn against Salvation? Will Salvation win respect by finally eradicating all Thargoid from the face of the galaxy? We will soon find out.
