There are over 400 Pokémon for players to catch in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and as a result, there are some Pokémon that are underrated in BDSP. Originally announced in 2021, thePokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Sinnoh remakes re-introduced players to the Generation 4 RPGs with a new HD engine and modern features.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were developed by Studio ILCA which had previously worked on the Pokémon Home cloud service app in 2020. Although the Sinnoh remakes were largely faithful to the 2006 RPGs, Pokémon BDSP features an expanded implementation of the game's Pokédex that allows players to catch hundreds of Pokémon.

In the Pokémon Gen 4 remakes, players do not have to wait to unlock the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl National Dex to encounter Pokémon from previous generations. With the new Sinnoh Underground giving trainers access to Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn Pokémon throughout the game, there are many Pokémon that get overlooked. Here are BDSP's most underrated Pokémon.
When Pokémon Diamond and Pearl launched in 2006, the game was unintentionally difficult for players who didn't choose Gen 4 Starter Pokémon Chimchar. Because the game didn't have many Fire-type Pokémon to catch in the wild, a handful of Gym Leaders and Trainer battles were substantially harder to survive for some players who didn't have a Fire-type Pokémon.
